I bought a used panasonic pvl552 palmcorder a while ago. I know its older but wondered if there is a way to attach it to my computer. I guess you would need software or can you use your monitor like the tv screen? I does have the cord to attach to the vcr and you can watch it on the tv. The ends are round so it wouldn’t attach to the computer with that. Anything would have to be aftermarket because the manual does not show any accessories of the computer type or software.
This is a analog camcorder and does not use a "firewire" cord. You need an analog converter.
ANALOG
*If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder… or VHS-c…
You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It’s very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 85.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.
Anytime you convert analog to digital, you will lose quality, but loss of quality is better than losing all those old memories.
**Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exists. This type of VHS Adapter only exists with VHS-C tape
