I am recording soccer games and don’t want the talk between me and my friends to be heard by coaches who will later review the tapes.
you are in luck, this camera has an external mic input. simply get a miniplug that is not wired, from radio shack, or cut the wire off of an old earphone plug. Using this "dummy plug" will mute the camera mic, and since there is no mic connected to the dummy, no audio will be recorded. when you need audio, simply pull the dummy to restore normal camera operation.

See the link to the manual.
This camera doesnt appear to have a microphone mute feature.
I searched the document for the word mute.
There is a remote cable control narration microphone you can plug in, which can over ride the internal microphone, but you cant mute it.
If you could find a technician, they could enable the naration microphone switch and disable it, by rewiring the cable. Sounds like a lot of trouble just to mute it though but it would work.
