Thoughts on Camcorder – Panasonic SDR S26

I have made a mistake in this video, the .moi files are actually converted to .mpg file with choosing the option to ‘import to PC’, nonetheless, it can be handled using Windows Movie Maker.

It doesn’t show in the video, but there were hours between making the video and actually uploading, namely because the camcorder actually records 4:3 aspect ratio and then add black bars on top and below to make the videos seem 16:9, which is a let down, but hey, I guess you can’t expect too much from a reasonably priced camcorder.

To overcome this problems I spent hours looking around on the internet, as well as downloading programmes to try and resize the video, in the end I found out that it is possible to add additional effects to WMM (thanks to pomokey), and eventually found an effect to resize videos natively on WMM, I can’t find a simpler way, if you found one please comment.

The effects pack can be found here:

http://movies.blainesville.com/search/label/effects

It must be mentioned that before resizing the video the editing option must be selected as 16:9 first, also, this package would only work with WMM v6, ie the one that comes with Vista.

Again, all comments that are not rude will be replied to.

@RayFilmz after the conversion there should be a folder on your local disk where the converted videos can be found, those ones should go onto any editor just fine.

    Well, is it was …
Well, is it was slow because the file was massive, then maybe you should have continued, but if it was slow because the software doesn’t integrate with YT all that well, you would probably be better off just directly uploading from your YT a/c, that’s what I usually do anyways.

    That is strange, …
That is strange, did the video come out of camsuite as mpg? If so, WMM should have no problems handling it. Maybe you can try reinstalling camsuite 2.0, as that seems to be where the problem lies.

Otherwise, I have heard that you can just change the file extensions directly to .mpg, which also supposedly works. Never tried that myself though.

    That’s odd… I …
That’s odd… I just had a quick play with my camcorder and changed the settings, and when I switch it off then back on, thesettings stayed the same. Maybe the there’s a software fault with your item, if I didn’t misunderstand it you should return it.

My videos used to be pretty poor quality because they were edited with Windows Movie Make, now I use Corel Video Studio, which is much better.

    I just happened to …
I just happened to have a SD memory card slot built into my laptop. So i put the card in and copy/paste the .MOV files onto my computer and just edit those with Power Direct 8. I never tried the software that comes with it, might give it a shot though.

Question: I’ll turn on my Cam and set the setting, but if i turn it off and then back on all my settings are gone anyway to save your settings?

Thanks for your vid’s. Why do they look bad quality thought?
