I am testing the quality on the Latest model Panasonic HDC-SD9 (new). The camcorder is only 65x67x126mm in size and weighs about 275g. Videos at 25fps(still poor),I prefer Panasonic try to made use 30fps. The camcorder look great but the software came with was sucks! U have to use another software.
Small doesn’t mean necessarily mean satisfying, though. Record in a modern format called AVCHD (H.264), which requires up-to-dated software to edit. Worse, the format files don’t work with the latest version of Apple’s movie-editing software, so Mac user, beware.
It shaped more like a traditional tubelike horizontal camcorder. It record onto memory cards. You can jump from scene to scene without ever rewinding or fast forwarding.
First, these model have zero wide angle-zip. It’s as though they’re stuck zoomed in. To get an entire 6ft tall person in the frame, you have to back up 15ft – too far away to hear what your subject is saying.
Just using simple Computer Window XP, very cheap old Compaq Evo 610 Laptop Intel pentium 4 1.7hz processor chip, 769mb memory.
1. Getting raw video files: mts format file.(mts is latest Mpeg file)
2. They are many user out there are still searching for a right converter software. My results here is, I use simple Winavi Converter V7.6 to avi (ZJMedia MPEG Encoder)1280×720 30fps 4000kbps (It’s working fine)
3. Last, by using Total Video Converter to Xvid Mpeg-4 320×240 1200kbps.
4. After upload to youtube.

I saved it as a WMV …
I saved it as a WMV in 1440 x 1080 and it came out with the “high quality” option on youtube.
First I converted the hd file into an mpeg2 then I editted then I saved the file under- windows media 9 HD high quality. (which is the highest quality windows media file available to my editor.)-PowerDirector.

How do you get this high quality for you tube uploads?
What worked for me …
What worked for me was using the bundled software to convert the file into a an mpeg 2, from there I think most editting software can handle mpeg2 files. (I use Cyberlink PowerDirector). I was able to get the high quality option on youtube, (looked great) when I saved the final editted video into a high quality WMV. I did a test video but havent made it public on youtube yet, (it was just a copy of the most recent movie I made but into a WMV). I am very happy with it.

Watch at around :45 for the vertical line coming from the bright light. That’s a fairly minor complaint I have about the SD9, but I’m sure it’s common among these camcorders.
I really like the camera, but my biggest complaint is that it’s too small and lightweight and therefore very hard to keep steady. I’m experimenting with ways to remedy this. Maybe I’ll try to screw some sort of weight to the bottom just to make it heavier.
Anyone know of a very cheap Steadycam system for tiny cameras?
